General Discussion / Re: Greetings from an old timer
« on: December 22, 2016, 07:59:37 AM »
  Two openings, btw.   ;)

I'm actually in the process of setting up a small league of my own as a way of keeping in better touch with a group of old high school buddies. (Jeezus I'm old.) I'd say, though, that the chance of my new league actually having legs beyond a season or two is about 35%, so I may indeed be jonesing for OOTP again in the near future, in which case I'll definitely take you up on it.

In the meantime, may we all take a moment to remember Ike Phillips, Joel Huerta, Ethan Teller, Ralph Ives, Eneas Reigosa, and J.L. Carrillo. And let us continue to forget Cliff Butter, Richard San Juan, and Chad Schmidt. (Or at least the fact that I traded them away as rookies.)

Nice to see this league still going strong (and lucky that I still remember my login). All I want to know is when I get a rookie league named after me, too...

General Discussion / All is well in the NPBL, and that is good

Just checking in, hoping the Griffs can stay healthy and get lucky this year.

Very, very glad to see some Griffins finally get their due in the HOF -- surprised that Collins made it in, and that Mal Marshall was so close.

Carry on.    8)

League Press Releases / Griffins Owner Steps Down
« on: February 05, 2013, 08:07:23 PM »
Hey guys,

This is surprisingly difficult for me to do, but I'm going to have to step down from the league.  I haven't had time for OOTP for a long while now, unfortunately, and yet have put this off because this is such a great league and I keep hoping to find time again.  But my Griffs are a sad shadow of what they used to be, and I'm not going to be able to rebuild them properly for quite a while.  Is it possible that Chap could find a worthy successor to bring the Griffins back to proper glory?

If I ever find time again and there is a team opening, I'll be back.  That's a promise.  And I'll still be checking in from time to time regardless.  My apologies for having been pretty much AWOL for the past year and my sincere thanks to Rob and everyone for keeping the league alive.

Go Griffs.
Andy

Trading Market / Re: Need an outfielder?

I've still got two or three too many outfielders -- some real players, with both offense and defense.

Looking for anything that helps my team.

Shoot me a PM if you're interested.

In-game or on the site?

In-game you just change the 'split' to 'preseason'.

I don't think the stats are in the reports on the site though.

Ah, gotcha.  Thanks.

Can we really not see ST stats by team in OOTP13, or am I (hopefully) missing something simple??

Welcome back, Jason (the original Griffins owner, I believe).  Welcome, Vris.

It's been a while since I've actually had the game -- Rob, what is my manager password?

Also, switch Fossil and Taylor around if you would -- make Fossil the closer and Taylor the setup man.

Thanks.

Thanks.  Thought I counted correctly, but I guess not.

1) Bring Blanton back from the DL.

2) Demote the following to AAA:
Stan Hendrickson
Maximiliano Pirovano
Curt Fletcher
Ernesto Gonzalez
Christian Tate
Kenneth Griffith
Derek Gilmore
Lewis Thompson
Alex Hudson
Bill Garzon
Luis Noya

3) Have coaches set rotation and bullpen -- 4-man rotation, strict order.  But then manually set rotation as follows:

1  Fred Thompson
2  Francisco Mendoza
3  Juan Gutierrez
4  Dave Hill

4) Please set depth chart as follows:

Position     vLHP     vRHP     Defense   Backup

C           Adams     Adams     Kung      Kung (when starter tired)
1B          Collier     Collier      Ealba      Ealba (when starter tired)
2B          Silva       Silva       Silva       Blanton (when starter tired)
3B          Padilla    Ealba      Padilla
SS          Blanton   Blanton    Blanton    Silva (when starter tired)
LF          Myers      Myers      Salgado
CF         Rodriguez   Salazar    Rodriguez
RF          West       Gomez

4) Please have coaches set lineups (but not depth charts).

5) Win it all.

Thanks, Rob.

I don't know.  However much the old model may have fit my particular GMing style, I think that the new model has created a lot more parity in the league, which does make things more interesting.  Finding ways to win with homegrown talent (otherwise known as "the Fred way") has been a good challenge.  I'd be inclined to keep it as it is.
