We keep creeping up, now just 3 back of the Wild Card, but still the 3rd worst record in the GEL. Pretty huge sim for us on Wednesday, 9-game road trip against WA, MN, ID - all currently ahead of us. If we can manage like a 5-4 sim, we have 20 of 32 at home to finish the year

A 6-3 sim following a massive drop where Florida went 2-18, falling from overall top ranking to 16th... Let's see if we can hold on and make the playoffs...

Looks like our hopes for a comeback are dashed as we went 1-8, including 4 1-run losses and 3 extra-innings losses, to drop 6 back of the WC chase. Our offense, 2nd in the GEL in OPS, just couldn't get the big hit - we scored 3 or less in all 8 losses (and 7 in the lone win). So many runners left on - lots of 1 run on 9 hits, 2 runs on 10 hits, etc.

Sidenote - GEL offenses are horrible. League OPS is .673 and the league is hitting .237

Yeah, I was chasing you, then I dropped 8 in a row myself.

Yeah agreed. Conversion has been rough on us...

Last two seasons before this were .252 and .243 so heading in the wrong direction.  .238 is the all-time low in 2010, so we've only got a short time to pull ahead of that! The Spuds certainly haven't been helping much -- we have three regulars (Stelfox, Hernandex, and Francis) under .222

And I'm not sure why, but there really aren't that many good bats to get in the draft. I can't help but think that is part of the reason.

Goodbye Andy Dwyer.  We'll have some gifts and a retirement party for you when the Freedom come to Glory Field on the 18th.

This is the club's 3rd playoff miss in a row. They last appeared in the postseason in 2073. In the last 10 seasons, the Grays have only missed the playoffs once.

Something about the math of this does not seem right.

Man, what an unabashedly frustrating season. Pythag up (down?) to -10. We're going to miss the playoffs by a ton yet probably have a run diff in the top 3rd of the GEL. 18-26 in 1-run games, 6-12 in extras.

I would be remiss if I didn't throw a shoutout to mid-season pickup Jorge Gallegos. In 15 starts with the Scorps he's gone 12-1 with, get this, a 0.89 ERA. His WHIP is at 0.60. His WORST start with us, going by Game Score is allowing 2 runs on 5 hits in 6 innings while striking out 3. That start is one of 2 outings in which he's allowed more than a single run (the other was a CG where he struck out 9). He's not allowed any runs at all in 7 of 15 starts. At least I didn't freak that up!

Wow. Looking forward to hosting the Freedom this upcoming weekend, though doesn't look as if we'll get to face him one more time.

I have no idea what the story was trying to say, but Iím pretty sure we had a 10-season playoff streak before these last three seasons of missing out.
